John Ray

Hello! I'm a Theoretical Physics student at Imperial College London, where I'm currently doing a Master's degree in Quantum Fields and Fundamental Forces. Before this, I was a student at Lancaster University where I received a Bachelor's degree in Theoretical Physics.

During my time at Lancaster, I got really into photography and coding - so I made this website to host both of those things! This website as a whole is a work-in-progress, but you can still see a lot of my work on the astrophotography, travel photography and nature photography pages. As well as this, you can see some of my recent coding projects on my projects page and a portfolio of all my photos on the All Photos page, which links to a part of the website that my friend Orlando.PB made and hosts.

Bird Photography links:

• Merlin - excellent website for identifying birds. I recommend the app.
• Ebird (link goes to Lancashire alerts) - good free alternative to BirdGuides or RBA.
• MPB - great site for 2nd-hand camera equipment.
• Nature Websites - an excellent site for hosting nature photography. I am unbiased in saying this.

Other interesting sites:

• Ex Astris Scientia an extremely thorough compendium of Star Trek lore.
• Mike Peel's website. Although I've never met the man, he's done some interesting stuff, so I thought it was worth including. I first found his site by reverse image searching one of my photos of York's Museum Gardens - it turns out that he'd taken a near-identical photo and uploaded it to Wikipedia Commons!
• Aidan Randle-Conde's website. Again, I've never met him either, but his site inspired my own Projects page, and he's done some interesting things as well.
• Astro by Orlando one of my friend's older Astronomy sites - would recommend for buying Bahtinov Masks!
